Thnks for the feeling of welcome...
May all the drkest pleasures be yours.
Bty the way, I noticed that you have an interest in Lukumi/Ifa and other West African faiths. If you have any questions about Haitian Vodou or New Orleans/Louisiana Voodoo, by all means don't hesitate to drop me a line. I'm only a serviteur, so I'm no expert, but I'll answer the best I can, and in a pinch, I can always ask my priestess and get back to you.
Blessings.
Todd

LIL' SIS...THANKS FOR LETTING ME HEAR FROM YOU..HOPE ALL IS FINE WITH YOU THIS DAY ....MANY BLESSINGS...BADGER WOMAN
Moravians are Slavic, Romanians are Latin. Your grandfather's name is Slavic, "cat" in Czech is "kočka". The root of the name might come from "cat" but I think it has another meaning not "little cat" (sorry I only learned Slovakian, not Czech, they are similar but also that was many many years ago and didn't really talk Slovakian in a looooong time).
It is true that on Moravian territory are a few descendants of what is named "black vlachs", that is Romanians that have migrated there and got partly Slavicized, but be careful, the term "vlach" in that area also means "orthodox Serbian".
In Moravia the ancient religions were more stiffled than in the Eastern Europe (that is why I didn't mention Czechia, Slovakia, or any of the countries of ex-Yugoslavia) - because the area was mostly Catholic. The Catholic Christianization was way more aggressive than the Easter-Orthodox one.
Good luck in your research. If you find something in Romanian that you think you might need translation for, you can pm me.
What used to be named "Wallachia" is also divided in several regions. Which region was your grandpa from? Do you know?
