Hi, MM! I don't mix things until I burn them by themselves to see what would be good in a blend. The vervain is not damp, it's just vry fresh for a dried herb... :) I've been using the charcoal blocks that you can get from occult suppliers as I have never heard of bamboo charcoal. I can look at the asian stores around me, maybe but I don't shop online. I thank you all, though MP!

What did you mix it with? I have a herbal incense that uses spearmint in it and it gives it a nice minty smell when burned. Also what did you use to burn it? If you used the swiftlite charcoal your heat can be to high. They have a higher burn temp then something like a nice bamboo charcoal, the temp can effect the way the herbs burn. I suggest googling japanese incense charcoal, its a bamboo base, it burns cleaner, it burns longer and it doesnt burn as hot. That should help.

May I ask a question?? Was your vervain damp?? I have gotten herbs that seemed a little damp and didn't burn well, like lavender and other leafy herbs. Maybe next time you could maybe dry them a little or let them lay out to dry.

It's so funny. ZThe vervain doesn't burn too well, either. The lavender smells like burning herbs and isn't terrible . I'm always looking to try new stuff though I'll keep the mint for tea. Bless everyone today!

Isn't it odd, how some things smell great until you burn them, and then other things smell awful (or not at all) until you burn them?

Hi I am new to the group and am very excited, I have been making my own incense for awhile, I have found that using a small food processor works great in mixing your blends, its also great for breaking down difficult ingredients like Amber and such..

I'm so excited, I can try a new blend since I just got some vervain and peppermint... I'm not sure if you can burn peppermint, but I'm going to find out:)
