I have been considering a tattoo; I am 54 years old, and do not have any. I was thinking of having the lance and the grail placed on my body, and am considering whether to have it on my lower abdomen or on my lower back. If it was your partner what do you think would be best?
Lower back would be less painful, I'd think! I'm not up to having a tattoo needle near my abdomen! (toes curling at the mere thought! LOL!)

Oh ho ho yeah! Lower back ("tramp stamps") are less painful . . . I've had lower back and lower belly work done, and a good friend had her navel ringed with a large design. Seems more sensitive there for some reason, probably because it's less physiologically "protected," more nerve endings near the skin surface.
But --- in all sincerity, ckevn --- don't let that dissuade you! What do you think is more appropriate for your own body? (Hint: You or a friend could sketch designs in non-permanent markers if you want a preview.)
I have anklets (where it all began), lower belly, lower back which morphed into a full backpiece (still in progress), and upper arms (not sleeves; an armband and an outer arm design).
When the backpiece is finally completed, I might post a picture. :)
