- There are a few key components that a good query letter must include: A short introduction or synopsis of the book, a brief bio about the author, some mention of marketing plans, and contact information. A query letter is only one page, two pages max. If you get any interest from an agent or publisher on your query letter, they may ask to see a full proposal. This document can be 50 to 100 pages.
